Chiropodist

Progressive Rehab Clinic provides access to a variety of healthcare professionals including chiropodists. Chiropodists are a hybrid of sorts that combine two different practice areas, namely podiatry and chiropractic care.

Chiropodists are considered primary health care providers, with a primary focus on conditions related to the foot, ankles, and lower extremities. They are also considered specialists, due to their primary healthcare focus.

The objective of chiropodists is to access, diagnose, treat, and educate patients about various conditions relating to the feet, ankles, toes, knees, legs, hips, and back. Chiropodists tend to take a non-invasive approach to treatments, but can also use surgical methods when necessary.

What Conditions Do Chiropodists Treat?

The feet are an essential part of the musculoskeletal system and help support the legs, knees, hips, and other upper extremities. They play an important role in posture and our ability to stand and walk.

At Progressive Rehab Clinic, our chiropodists can treat a variety of conditions and ailments, including, but not necessarily limited to:

  • Bursitis
  • Bone Spurs
  • Ankle Sprains and Strains
  • Toe Joint Pain
  • Ankle Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Leg Pain
  • Muscle Strains, Sprains, and Spasms
  • Hip Pain
  • Back Pain

How Are Treatment Plans Developed?

Your chiropodist will perform an initial consultation and evaluation. During this visit, they will review your medical history with you including prior surgeries, injuries, and other health concerns. They will normally perform a gait analysis, which is seeing how you stand and walk.

In addition, they will review you current symptoms to determine the root causes of your problem. Since the musculoskeletal and nervous systems extend throughout the body, it is not uncommon for the source of the problem to be in a different area than the primary complaint area.

For instance, you may be experiencing foot and ankle pain. During you initial examination and consultation, it is discovered the source of your foot and ankle pain is actually coming from a condition in your lower back. As you can imagine, simply treating the foot and ankle pain would not be truly effective at resolving your problems.

At Progressive Rehab Clinic, our chiropodists not only treat the primary symptoms, but also access, diagnose and treat the root source of the problem. As such, our patients notice improved recovery times along with less frequent, if any reoccurrence of the problem.

After your complete detailed evaluation and consultation, your chiropodist will create a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs and conditions. We understand everyone is different, so their treatments must be unique to their specific issues in order for recovery to be effective.

What If I Need Orthotics?

The good thing about seeing a chiropodist at Progressive Rehab Clinic is they can prescribe orthotics if necessary to help with your condition. There is no need to get a referral to see a podiatrist.
